Moeen Ali, the all-rounder for England, suffered a groin injury while batting on Day 1 of the current Ashes 2023 Test match at the Oval. Ali, England’s starting spinner in the Test match, was unable to enter the pitch to bowl during the match’s final session after England was dismissed for 283 on Day 1. The all-rounder’s physical status was updated by Harry Brook, who had been batting with Moeen at the time, and he claimed things did not seem good.
Moeen, who had not played in a Test match since 2021, has had a series hampered by injuries, first injuring his finger before coming down with an issue that may prevent him from participating more in the final Ashes test at the Oval.
“He was in a lot of pain so…..”: Moeen Ali
Harry Brook discussed Moeen Ali’s injury and wished him the best. He said, “He’s not looking too good at the minute, hopefully, he can come and bowl some overs for us. He’s been a vital player for us, he’s a top player, hopefully, he gets better soon.”
The Sunrisers Hyderabad batter spoke to the Guardian about the ability of Moeen Ali and how his power hitting has been helping the side. He said, “He’s one of the best power hitters in the world so there’s not many better men to have out there if you want him to go and smack it. The way he went about it after his injury was perfect. We could have easily got [some singles] because they started to put everybody back as soon as he played a few big shots, but he was in a lot of pain so there weren’t going to be many twos.”
Michael Vaughan, the former England batter spoke about the impressive display of Harry Brook in this Ashes and compared him to some of the legends of the game. He said, “Harry Brook is right up there, Kevin Pietersen was the best. In the era I played, Pietersen dealt with them. I’m looking at Harry Brook in a similar way, he deals with them really well. He’s a great guy to have in the dressing room.”

Yesterday he played a good small innings and the six he hit on Cummins bowling was superb. Cummins kept testing his with length ball and it was swinging quite well and Moo was not able to judge where to play pic.twitter.com/t4AFX63l1w
