Cricket is not just a sport, but an emotion in India. Fans treat it as a religion in India. One such family which is filled with crazy fans is that of Rachin Ravindra, the Kiwi cricketer, whose roots are in India. The grandparents and parents of Ravindra belong to Bengaluru, a popular city in India. The way Rachin was named itself has a cricket context behind it.
Rachin’s father was a former cricketer at club level. Due to several reasons, they had to migrate to New Zealand. His passion was rubbed on to his child, Rachin, who was given the best of the facilities to pursue his cricket career. Ravindra did not just make it to the New Zealand team but has taken over the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 by storm.
As Rachin’s father was a fan of both Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar, he named his son Rachin, taking the first two alphabets and last four alphabets from Dravid’s and Sachin’s names respectively. Ravindra has made a name for himself in India, particularly among the Bengaluru crowd in M Chinnaswamy stadium, who have treated their ‘Hometown boy’ with full love.
Rachin Ravindra’s grandmother wishes him luck
After New Zealand’s win in the ODI World Cup 2023 against Sri Lanka, their chances for qualifying for the semifinal of the tournament have increased. Ahead of the big matches, Ravindra visited the residence of his grandparents in Bengaluru. He spent some time with his grandparents there. A video has gone viral on the internet where his grandmother was offering prayers to wish him luck.
In the video, the grandmother was seen praying with God and eliminating the bad eyes on him. As Ravindra was seated, his grandmother worshipped the God. “He is my close relative. Krishna is my close relative,” said the grandmother as she offered prayers to Lord Krishna. Ravindra had a passionate laugh about it. The video has taken the internet by storm. Fans appreciated the Kiwi cricketer for following his roots and giving importance to culture.
