‘Ye aadmi paidal hai dimag se’- Fans lash out at Gambhir after his rude remark for Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir

Former Indian skipper, Virat Kohli lit up the Barsapara Cricket Stadium on Tuesday as he notched his 45th ODI hundred against Sri Lanka. Kohli hit 12 fours and 1 six en-route to a sensational knock of 113 runs in 87 balls, including 12 four and 1 six. With that knock, Kohli also equaled Sachin Tendulkar’s record of hitting 20 centuries in a country, which is also the joint most by any batter.

Following his knock, Gautam Gambhir made a remark, which irked the fans of Virat Kohli. While Gambhir praised Kohli’s innings, he said that Kohli can’t be even compared to Sachin Tendulkar.

“You can’t compare Virat with Sachin. In Sachin’s era there weren’t 5 players inside the 30-yard circle,” Gambhir said to Star Sports.

The fans weren’t too happy with Gambhir’s remark and, thus, trolled him on social media. Here’s a look at some of the reactions on the same:

Thanks to Kohli’s knock, India notched a huge score of 373 runs in the first innings. Gambhir didn’t hold back in criticizing Sri Lanka’s bowling unit for their underwhelming bowling performance.

“It was pretty ordinary bowling. The top three of the Indian batting line-up have got lots and lots of runs behind them. Rohit and Kohli obviously, Shubman also has the ability to get so many runs in international cricket. And how easy it was for Rohit and Shubman to get runs today. That was a surprise for me. You have to be consistent and Sri Lanka’s bowling outing was very very disappointing for me,” Gambhir added after the first innings.

Sri Lanka are currently batting in the second innings and are finding it extremely hard to chase down the target. At the time of writing, the Island nation have lost seven wickets for just 194 runs and need 180 more runs to chase down the score.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill stitched a 143-run partnership for the opening wicket to set the tone. Making his return to the team, Rohit Sharma scored 83 runs in 67 balls, while Shubman Gill amassed 70 off 60 deliveries.
