Women's Premier League 2024

WPL 2024 Match Highlights, RCB-W vs GG-W: Bangalore storm past Gujarat Giants with 8-wicket triumph

RCB Women are one of the two teams that are still undefeated in the Women’s Premier League 2024.

RCB-W

After winning the toss, RCB-W bowlers bowled brilliantly on this slow pitch  The openers got off to a poor start, as Beth Mooney was sent back by Renuka Singh with a lovely inswinger. Phoebe Litchfield entered the game at number three in a rearranged batting order. But she was unable to have an effect either as Renuka took her wicket after a deft stumping by Richa Ghosh.

From then on, it was all downhill; they were never able to gain momentum. The Giants could only manage a target of 108 thanks to the accurate lines and lengths of RCB’s spinners, who gave nothing away. This was made possible by the team’s cautious batting strategy. The Gujarat Giants batters never really got going and can only hope for a miracle from their bowlers.

RCB-W demolish Gujarat Giants at M.Chinnaswamy stadium

In the blistering run-chase inside the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Sophie Devine departed early. However, with their amazing stroke play, Smriti Mandhana and Sabbhineni Meghana walked along to tick the scoreboard. Ellyse Perry then arrived and completed the run-chase. Gujarat just lacked sufficient resources, and an experienced RCB team was unaffected by their bowling. With this victory, the hosts have now opened their season with a winning streak.

In regards to Gujarat, Beth Mooney and her team have a great deal of introspection ahead of them. The bowlers laid the groundwork for this victory, while Smriti led the way early on to crush whatever dreams Gujarat may have had.

Beth Mooney spoke to the broadcasters after yet another loss in the Women’s Premier League 2024. She discussed their massive defeat to the table-toppers today. She said, “Defending low totals on these wickets is always tough with the batting RCB have got. Will have to go back to the drawing board. I don’t believe in form in this format, if we win the next two, then everyone will forget the first two. Perhaps we’re just not taking the high percentage options at the right time. We have to score through the middle-overs, we need wickets in the shed for that as well. We need to get 140.”
