Five teams will play 20 games during the 2024 edition of the Women’s Premier League. The tournament is set to begin on the 23rd of February. Defending champions Mumbai Indians will begin their journey with a game against Delhi Capitals.
Total Teams Taking Part in the Tournament
Mumbai Indians, UP Warriors, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Gujarat Giants are the five teams in contention. No new teams have been added this year but one hopes more teams will come into effect soon.
Venues of the tournament
This year the Women’s Premier League will be held in the south and north of India. The Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi will host the second half of the tournament. M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore will host the initial part of the season.
Group Phase and Playoffs Matches
Twenty matches will be played in the group phase stages of the tournament. The first-ranked team will move into the finals of the WPL 2024 season. Teams who are slotted at number two and three will then play the single-game eliminator. The winner of that team will become the second finalist.
Timing of the matches
Every game of the Women’s Premier League is set to be a day-and-night match. While the toss will take place at 7 PM, the action will begin at 7:30 PM. This year there are no double headers so the day games will not take place.
