‘World Cup tak firse injure naa ho jaye’ – Fans react as Shreyas Iyer and Jasprit Bumrah are likely to be picked for Ireland series

Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer are both rehabilitating after back injuries at the National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru

Shreyas Iyer and Jasprit Bumrah, India

Since Jasprit Bumrah has been sidelined since last September, Team India has undoubtedly felt his absence. Due to the 29-year-old’s back issue, India was left with few options. During this time, Bumrah missed the WTC final, the T20 World Cup, and the Asia Cup 2022. Furthermore, it would be accurate to claim that India lacked a death bowler.

Jasprit Bumrah is displaying excellent indicators and bowling his assigned number of overs, thus it appeared as though the Men in Blue would soon have him in competitive action. Bumrah underwent successful back surgery in March 2023, and he is now recovering at Bengaluru’s National Cricket Academy (NCA). According to media sources from IndianExpress, the pacer regularly participates in net sessions and bowls aggressively.

India’s top middle-order batsman, Shreyas Iyer, has also been sidelined for some time in addition to Bumrah. Iyer has missed numerous series and competitions after suffering a back problem. Additionally, he successfully underwent back surgery and began his rehabilitation process. He missed the WTC Final and the full Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

Shreyas Iyer and Jasprit Bumrah will be participating in numerous practice games in NCA

According to several media sources, Iyer and Bumrah are anticipated to make a comeback during India’s tour of Ireland in August. Last month, Bumrah began his bowling practices. India would be hoping that both of these players can return to fitness quickly and join the starting XI for the upcoming ODI World Cup to be played in India between October 5 and November 19. Under the direction of NCA director VVS Laxman, both of these cricketers are finishing their rehabilitation.

Bumrah might get a shot on a trip to Ireland with a backup team instead of the Indian Cricket Board’s original intention to offer him game time and reintegrate him into the team for the forthcoming Asia Cup 2023. Due to their importance to the team, the Indian medical staff is giving both of these players particular attention. These players may participate in several NCA practice games soon.
