‘We have disrespected and discredited…’ – Misbah-ul-Haq upset with PCB for roping in Mickey Arthur as online coach

‘The Pakistan cricket fan is always disgruntled,’ he added.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are all set to rope in Mickey Arthur as the head coach once again, but this time, in a different mode. To add more, Arthur would be the online coach for the Pakistani team and would be handling Derbyshire offline, with fans claiming that the PCB made a grave mistake by picking a coach who prefers Pakistan, second only to the English club.

Reiterating the same, the former Pakistani cricketer Misbah-ul-Haq said that the decision from PCB is a slap on Pakistan cricket. The right-handed batter said that it would have been way better having the board preferred a coach who was willing to give it all for the Pakistani team. Further, Misbah said that they themselves must be blamed for all the chaos surrounding Pakistan cricket at present.

“It’s a slap on our cricket system that we are not able to find a high-profile full-time coach. It is a shame that the best ones do not want to come and we insist on having someone who is looking at Pakistan as a second option. I blame our own system, which is vulnerable enough with so many weak lines for anyone to exploit it,” Misbah was quoted as saying to ESPNCricinfo.

Cricket is the most popular sport in the country: Misbah-ul-Haq

Highlighting the importance of cricket in the country, the former Pakistani cricketer said that many ex-players are disrespecting the country and the sport by using their own YouTube channels for their personal growth and ratings. Notably, many former Pakistani cricketers; the likes of Salman Butt, Shoaib Akhtar and Kamran Akmal are on their personal channels and often review matches happening across the world.

“We are to be blamed ourselves that we have disrespected and discredited our own people to make a bad image. The present and former lot do not respect each other, with media and former players using their own YouTube channels for ratings, grossly hitting the credibility and value of our cricket which, as as result, gives an impression that we are not capable,” Misbah was quoted as saying.

“The Pakistan cricket fan is always disgruntled; he is picking up things from the media and is under the wrong impression. Players speaking against each other with grudges and talking openly with disdain just devalues our community, and that becomes the common perception. Our cricket has been constantly under pressure with wavered and subjective opinions. The game is hardly a subject of objective and constructive discussion,” he added.
