Gill and Kohli fail to convert starts into hundreds
Gill and Kohli had to get together quickly, and they both displayed their batting skills. India’s position was stabilised by Kohli and Gill after Rohit Sharma was lost early in the innings. They were able to score 60 runs during the first powerplay by maintaining a consistent run flow.
Both of them had an extraordinary partnership of over 170 runs and were looking set to complete their centuries. However, the good form of Dilshan Madushanka continued as he removed the two set batters. Shubman Gill was removed for a well deserved 92, while Virat Kohli got out at 88.
