Shakib Al Hasan miss out due to injury
In the ODI World Cup clash between India and Bangladesh, Najmul Hussain Shanto took place off Shakib Al Hasan. Winning the toss, Shanto chose to bat first, clarifying Shakib’s absence due to injury, stating he’s “struggling a bit,” with Nasum Ahmed as his replacement. This unexpected development increased anticipation among fans for updates on Shakib’s condition and how Bangladesh would perform without him. The absence of Taskin Ahmed, a key pacer alongside Mustafizur Rahman, was noteworthy. Though Taskin could have been a potent threat with the new ball, Bangladesh’s strategic move saw Hasan Mahmud taking his place.
Shakib watched the clash against India from the sidelines, nursing an injury sustained in a previous match against New Zealand in the ODI World Cup 2023. Despite injuring his left quadriceps, Shakib showcased determination, scoring a 51-ball 40 and completing his full quota of 10 overs. His physical discomfort was evident, and his absence from the post-match presentation underscored the severity of his injury. Bangladesh’s coach, Chandika Hathurusingha, emphasized that Shakib would only participate in the World Cup match against India if he regains full fitness.
