Fight erupts in the stand during India versus Afghanistan game on Wednesday

The Indian Cricket Team showed their might as they steamrolled over Afghanistan in their second game of the ODI World 2023 match. The game in New Delhi saw the Indian team take home their second win of the tournament by 8 wickets.

Rohit Sharma’s century and a half–century by Virat Kohli led the Indian team to an easy win with 90 balls left. For Afghanistan, this was their second loss after they had gone down to Bangladesh in their opening match. The Indians had opened their tournament with a six-wicket win over Australia on Sunday in Chennai.

While the action on the field was one-sided, there was drama going on in the stands. Yet another game in the national capital saw a huge fight erupt in the stands. The video has made its way onto social media with cricket fans coming up with mixed reactions.

Fans involved in free-for-all all in the stands –

The Indian team was coasting to an easy win over Afghanistan on Wednesday as the home team was bossing the game. In the stands, there were a few fans who ended up getting into a fisticuff with each other.

There is a 55-second video that is doing the rounds where two fans were having a shoving match with a third fan. It soon turned into a brawl as the crowd gathered to watch the off–field action. The security finally came in and separated the three men before normalcy returned in the stands.

Afghanistan batting first scored 272/8 thanks to half-centuries by Hasmatullah Shahidi and Azmatullah. For India it was Jasprit Bumrah who was the star with the ball picking four important wickets. The two Afghanistan batters combined together to put 121 key runs in a very important fourth wicket stand.

Chasing 273 to win, Indian opener Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan took the game away from Afghanistan. The two added 156 runs for the opening wicket scoring at a brisk rate before Rashid Khan got Ishan Kishan for 47.

Rohit Sharma was in a destructive mood as he scored his 31st ODI ton and 7th in ODI World Cups. This was the most by any batter in the history of the tournament. The Indian skipper also scored the fastest World Cup ton by an Indian in a mere 63 balls.

The 36-year-old had begun the ODI World Cup 2023 with a duck against Australia in Chennai on Sunday. Virat Kohli was not out on 55 as India won the game with 15 overs left to play.
