Dana white on Anshul Jubli

In a recent interview at UFC 294, the head of the organisation, Dana White, faced an unexpected response from the audience in Abu Dhabi. While discussing the prospect of Indian fighters and a potential event in India, White was booed by the audience. It was especially noteworthy for the mention of Indian fighter Anshul Jubli.

When asked about the progress on his earlier promise to bring Indian fighters into the UFC and the joining of new talents like Jubli and Puja Tomar, he responded, “I’ve been looking all over the world for fighters from every part of the world. So yeah, we’ve been excited about India and looking for talent throughout India, Asia, and everywhere else.”

Further speaking about any plans for a UFC event in Europe or India, the UFC head expressed interest in expanding globally, mentioning previous fights in India. However, as the topic of an event in India came up, he was met with disapproval from the audience. The reaction left him in shock, but he continued and expressed his willingness to come to India.

Watch the video here:

“What’s wrong with India? What’s everybody [expletive] in India for?” He retorted, visibly surprised by the negative reaction. Despite the booing, he affirmed the organisation’s intention to eventually extend its presence worldwide, including India, stating, “Yes, sir, we will come to India. I don’t know when we will have a plan right now. But, you know, I want to go everywhere.

Anshul Jubli has a disappointing debut in the UFC

It’s worth noting that Anshul Jubli’s Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) career began on a disappointing note as he was defeated by America’s Mike Breeden in UFC 294 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Breeden secured victory over Jubli in the third round through a series of punches, halting his four-match losing streak.

Anshul clinched a UFC contract after triumphing over Indonesia’s Jeka Saragih in the Road to UFC final with a second-round knockout. With this he became the second-ever Indian, following Bharat Khandare, to achieve this feat. However, his disappointing performance led to booing from the audience during the press conference.
