The intensity of the game often brings out the best in every player. With the stacks so high, many often go to great lengths to assure victory for their team. Sometimes, this creates a tussle between opposing players and brings out ugly scenes on the ground.
A similar incident happened in the game between Baroda and Saurashtra in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022. The incident whose video is doing the rounds on the internet is from the second innings of the match. Saurashtra batter Sheldon Jackson and Ambati Rayudu from Baroda exchanged words in the middle of the pitch.
Seemingly, the Baroda captain made a remark on Jackson which irked the batter who was batting in the ninth over of the second inning. Angry at the words, the Saurashtra batter marched towards Rayudu who was fielding at the cover. The other players and the umpire had to intervene seeing both walk towards each other in anger.
Umpire removed both from each other’s faces but Rayudu continued to argue with the umpire as Jackson was walking back to the pitch.

Saurashtra top Group D
As for the game, it was a closely fought affair between the two teams but Saurashtra emerged victorious by four wickets at the end. The Jaydev Unadkat-led side invited Baroda to put runs on the board after winning the toss. Coming onto bat first, the Rayudu-led team made 175/4 in 20 overs. Mitesh Patel (60) and Vishnu Solanki (51) were the top scorers from the team and helped their team achieve a good total.
Coming onto chase what was a decent target on the pitch, Saurashtra got off to a poor start as they lost quick wickets in the beginning. Number three batter, Samarth Vyas however took the game by the scruff of the neck and played a match-winning knock of 97 in just 52 deliveries. He hit five fours and nine boundaries to thwart all challenges from the Baroda bowlers and bring his team to the verge of victory. In the end, Jay Gohil (17) and Chirag Jani (7) took the team across the finish line. With this win, Saurashtra topped Group D in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
