With not much left time for the qualifier stage to begin, the teams are giving their all to seal a place in the top 4. As a result, the fans are getting to see some edge-of-the-seat thrillers in the competition. The Match no 43 played between Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers was no different. During the match, a shot from Stephen Eskinazi caught the attention of fans.
The incident took place during the second innings of the Match. It happened during the second ball of the 10th over bowled by Hayden Kerr. Kerr bowled a low slow full-toss which Eskinazi nonchalantly scooped towards the third man for a boundary. The commentators were left in splits looking at how casually Eskinazi sent the ball away for a four.

Coming back to the match, Perth Scorchers captain Ashton Turner won the toss and opted to bowl first. Sydney Sixers openers Josh Philippe and Steven Smith added 52 runs for the first wicket in 7.4 overs. Philippe went on to score a brilliant 54 off 48 balls with two fours and a six. However, the rest of the batters couldn’t contribute much as Sixers finished with 151/5 in their allotted 20 overs.
Sean Abbott set up a magnificent victory for Sydney Sixers
Peter Hatzoglou was the pick of the bowlers for Scorchers who picked up 2/27 in four overs while Jason Behrendorff picked up one wicket. In reply, Scorchers got off to a miserable start as they lost three wickets for 35 runs in the first seven overs. Seeing his team in trouble, Stephen Eskinazi held one end and took the innings forward.
He got some support from Ashton Turner and Nick Hobson who scored 23 and 27 respectively. However, despite Eskinazi’s brilliant innings, Scorchers fell six runs short of their target. Eskinazi remained unbeaten on 66 off 54 balls with the help of seven fours.
Sean Abbott was the pick of the bowlers for the Sixers who picked up 3 wickets for 18 runs in four overs while Hayden Kerr and Daniel Christian picked up two wickets each. Abbott was awarded ‘Player of the Match’ for his 3-fer.
