It’s worth noting that this is Afghanistan’s back-to-back second 250+ score in the ongoing tournament.

In the 13th match of the ODI World Cup 2023, the Afghanistan cricket team left cricket pundits in shock with their amazing batting performance in Delhi. Playing against defending champions England, the Afghani batters put up an amazing batting performance and posted a competitive total of 284/10 in 49.5 overs.

The dominance with the bat started from the top as opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran added 114 runs for the first wicket in just 12.4 overs. Their partnership troubled English bowlers, as they were looking rattled. However, star England all-rounder Sam Curran failed to hide his frustration. While feeling at the boundary ropes, Curran was being recorded by a cameraman.

Here is the video:

This didn’t go well with him, as he frustratedly pushed the cameraman back. The video soon went viral on social media, as it didn’t go well with fans. It’s worth noting that this reaction came after Sam Curran’s expensive spell. He conceded 20 runs, including a no-ball in the 9th over of the game.

Can Afghanistan defend 284 runs against England?

Eventually, Afghanistan had a great outing at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. After a great start, the team crumbled in the middle overs as England spinners Adil Rashid, Joe Root, and Liam Livingston clinched six wickets together. However, in the end, quick knocks from Ikram Alikhil (58), Rashid Khan (23), and Mujeeb-Ur-Rahman (28) helped Afghanistan cross the 250-run mark.

It’s worth noting that this is Afghanistan’s back-to-back second 250+ score in the ongoing tournament. Firstly, it came against India on October 11 at the same venue. However, the team lost that game as India skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli hammered their bowling attack. Rohit scored a century, while Kohli smashed another half-century. If Afghanistan manages to win this game, it will be their first win against a big team in World Cup history.
