Pakistan ended their 3-match Test series against Australia and they failed to win a single game in the longest format of the game against the Kangaroos. The Men in Green have failed to win a single Test match since 1995 in the Aussie soil and the dream continues for them of winning a red ball game. This was their first tour since their horrifying ODI World Cup 2023 where they failed to qualify for the knockouts a whole new management was changed with Babar Azam stepping down as captain from all formats and Shan Masood appointed as the skipper in the traditional format.
Pakistan showed a good fight against the Kangaroos but could have enough to win a test match. Now, the team is preparing for the T20I series against New Zealand ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. This will be their last series before the mega event. During the press conference, newly appointed captain Shaheen Shah Afridi dropped shocking comments about the speed guns in Australia.
Afridi finished the series with eight wickets in two games with an average of 41.62. Pakistan’s highest wicket-taker was Aamer Jamal, who made his debut in the series and took 18 wickets in three games at 20.44 and scored some runs with the bat in the last test as well.

Shaheen Afridi says Pakistan pacers were shocked to see speed guns in Australia, which were showing their speeds as 130KPH on every delivery (laughs) ???
Do you think the speed guns were faulty or did Shaheen's pace really drop? #NZvsPAK pic.twitter.com/8lxEgjNlA4

When we were bowling, we were watching the board: Shaheen Shah Afridi
Shaheen ahead of 1st T20I said, “To be honest, when we were bowling, we were watching the board [big screen] ourselves. Are we this [slow]?’ We couldn’t understand. We had been bowling since the start, putting in so much effort, yet the speeds were coming up to 132-133 [kph]. We were surprised and were thinking ‘Has it been decided [by the broadcasters] that the speed gun won’t go above this?”
Meanwhile, speaking about his responsibility as a captain, Afridi said, “It’s a very exciting challenge and a proud moment for me to represent Pakistan. Not easy, It’s a first-time captaincy, a new challenge and in New Zealand. We have a very good track record against New Zealand but they are one of the best teams in the world so we’ll try to do our best.”
