India middle-order batter Rinku Singh scored his maiden T20I fifty in the second T20I against South Africa at St George Park, Gqeberha. In the game, he was promoted up the order after the team lost three wickets for 55 runs. Singh and skipper Suryakumar Yadav put together 70 runs for the fourth wicket. During Singh’s innings, he hit a six over the bowlers’ head, notably targetting the longer boundary.
As the ball went over the fence in the ‘V’, it went on to hit the glass of the media box.

While Yadav (56) got out to Tabraiz Shamsi, Singh remained unbeaten at 68 off 39 balls. His innings helped the team reach 180/7 in 19.3 overs. Apparently, the rain-forced break ensured that the innings ended right there. This not only took away the Men In Blue’s chance of getting more runs but also Gerald Coetzee’s chance of picking a hat-trick. The right-arm pacer took the wickets of Ravindra Jadeja and Arshdeep Singh.
When Mohammed Siraj was coming out to face the hat-trick ball, rain ended the innings. Also, the match was reduced to 15 overs. The Proteas needed 152 runs to ensure not only 1-0 lead but also avoid a series defeat. While the visitors made it difficult to chase the target, the home side did it as they accumulated the most runs in only a few overs. They ended up winning the game by five wickets. Meanwhile, Singh has apologized for breaking media box glass after the game.
