The budding cricketers of India made the nation proud as they won the inaugural edition of the Women’s U-19 20-20 World Cup. The Indian men’s and women’s senior cricket teams were seen celebrating India’s under-19 women’s T20 team after the team led by Shafali Verma put up a fantastic performance in the final against England.

In a video posted by the Indian Cricket Board, the men’s team was seen lavishing praises on the young cricketers. Team head coach Rahul Dravid extended his wishes to the team by saying, “Today was the landmark day for India under-19 Women’s cricket team and they had a fantastic day.”

He then handed the microphone to Prithvi Shaw, the captain of the men’s under-19 World Cup-winning team. “I would like to pass it on winning Under-19 Boys captain to pass on a message to young girls,” Dravid said.

Shaw, who led India’s Under-19 team to victory in New Zealand in 2018, said, “I think, it’s a great achievement. Everyone wants to congratulate the under-19 Women’s team. So Congratulations!”

India won the Under-19 Women’s 20-20 World Cup for the first time on Sunday, defeating England by a seven-wicket margin in Potchefstroom. Meanwhile, senior women’s team members were seen shouting and dancing in celebration of the under-19 team’s historic victory.

After opting to bowl first in the final, India had England on the back foot from the start, thanks to a superb bowling performance and an impressive fielding display. After dismissing England for 68 runs, India chased down the target with seven wickets and six overs to spare, sparking wild celebrations in the camp.

The key to India’s march to victory was another clinical display with the ball, with Titas Sadhu setting the pace and the spinners delivering another telling performance when it mattered. The pacer was awarded the player of the match for her spell of 4 overs, 6 runs, and two wickets.
