The 25th match of the Caribbean Premier League kicked off between the Guyana Amazon Warriors and the Jamaica Tallawahs. The match was played at the providence stadium in Guyana. The home side got off to a poor start losing Chandrapaul Hemraj and Gurbaz to the bowling of Chris Green and were tottering with the score at 34-2. Shai Hope came in and made a superb 60 from 45 balls with 4 boundaries and 3 sixes. Then there was a stutter in the middle order, with Shakib Al Hasan falling to Imad Wasim.

Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmeyer were scalped by Nabi. Fabian Allen scalped up Romario Sheperd and Gudakesh Motie was dismissed leg before wicket to Mohammad Nabi. At 98-7, it looked like the Guyana Amazon Warriors could never get out of the hole, they found a saviour in Odean Smith who just batted in the fifth gear and blazed away to glory.

He produced a blistering innings of 42 from 16 balls with 6 sixes in the innings. The commentators on air at that time were in awe of Odean Smith’s big hitting and were having a ball covering the innings on air.

He was also helped down the order with vital contributions from Keemo Paul and Junior Sinclair down the order who scored 30 runs together and then hit 2 boundaries and 3 sixes in total. That allowed the Guyana Amazon Warriors to get to a big total of 178-8 at the end of their 20 overs.

In the second innings, a superb century from Brandon King went in vain as the innings of 104 from 66 balls proved futile as the Guyana Amazon Warriors put in a great performance with the ball and rallied together to stop the Jamaica Tallawahs from reaching the target.

In the end, Guyana Amazon Warriors cliched a thriller by 12 runs and got two vital points to their kitty.
