New Zealand leggie Ish Sodhi did an MS Dhoni as he hit the last ball of the game for a six. In the first game against Sri Lanka, the home team needed seven runs of the last ball. At this point, Lankan Lions skipper Dasun Shanaka bowled the last over of the game. During the over, he didn’t a single boundary for the first five balls.
However, on the last ball of the game, Sodhi hit a six over the deep midwicket fence. Shanaka bowled a half-volley that was deposited in the stands by the leggie. He then walked off towards his team’s dugout nonchalantly. On the other hand, the commentators can be heard going crazy in a video uploaded by the broadcaster of the series in the island nation.

Meanwhile, talking about the game, the Blackcaps won the toss and asked the Lankans to bat first. The visitors had a poor start as they lost the wicket of Pathum Nissanka on the first ball of the game. The team looked like recovering well when they scored 47 runs in 3.1 overs. However, they were reduced to 65/3 in 5.1 overs. At this stage, the likes of Kusal Perera (53*) and Charitha Asalanka (67) put together 103 runs for the fourth wicket.
All-rounder Wanindu Hasaranaga (21*) played a cameo and took the team to 196/5. In reply, the home team had a poor start as they lost three wickets for 66 runs. However, contributions from middle-order and the last ball six helped the team tie the game.
