T20 World Cup 2024
Watch: Mohammed Shami cleans up Dinesh Karthik in the nets, signals his return in form
Mohammed Shami has replaced Jasprit Bumrah who was ruled out due to a back injury
Mohammed Shami didn’t had any match practice coming in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022. Around a month before the tournament, he tested positive for COVID-19. This meant that he was ruled out of the three-match T20I series against Australia. Shami didn’t play in the T20I series against South Africa either as he could play the series before the rehab. However, he was named replacement for Jasprit Bumrah recently.
In a recent video that is doing round on the internet, Shami was seen bowling in the nets full throttle. The right-arm pacer was bowling to Dinesh Karthik. Even though the latter had a number against Shami, there was one instance when Karthik was cleaned up. In the video, Karthik was trying to play his favorite scoop shot. However, he could execute his shot and lost the stumps behind him.

Talking about the team, they will play their third of the four warm-up game on October 17. The Men In Blue will play against hosts Australia in Brisbane. After this game, they will play another warm-up game against New Zealand before starting their World Cup campaign. Their World Cup campaign will start against Pakistan on October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
The game will be must-win for both the Asian teams as fans from bought teams will expect their side to do well. However, the game is clouded by the rain forecast. Apparently, Melbourne and it’s suburbs have been experiencing heavy rains and flood like situations in some areas. The fans would be hoping for the rain gods to stay away during the game. The game will start at 1:30 PM according to Indian Standard Time, Melbourne Time 7 PM.
