WATCH: Marnus Labuschagne’s response to Bazball’s inclusion in Dictionary

Labuschagne has contributed with some decent innings in the middle order and appears to be in good form in ongoing ODI World Cup 2023.

England’s innovative approach to Test cricket, known as ‘Bazball,’ developed with the guidance of coach Brendon McCullum and captain Ben Stokes, has earned a place in the dictionary, making it one of Collins’ top 10 words of the year. However, when asked about Bazball’s inclusion in the Collins dictionary, Australian batsman Marnus Labuschagne expressed disbelief and dismissed it as nonsensical.

The term ‘Bazball’ has been included in the Collins dictionary, defined as “a style of Test cricket in which the batting side adopts an extremely aggressive approach.” This word gained prominence since Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes assumed their roles as coach and captain of the England Test team.

McCullum and Stokes have certainly revolutionized Test cricket, with England remaining undefeated in the format for the past year. The term ‘Bazball’ was coined to describe the aggressive style of cricket played by the team under their leadership. When asked about his opinion on ‘Bazball’ being added to the dictionary, Australian batter Marnus Labuschagne appeared unaware of the development and expressed surprise, calling it garbage and indicating his lack of knowledge regarding the matter.

The Australia middle order batter’s remarks could potentially add fuel to the rivalry between England and Australia in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023. The highly anticipated clash between these arch-rivals is scheduled for Saturday, November 4th, in Ahmedabad, and Labuschagne’s comments may further intensify the competition.

 

Australia will be banking on Marnus Labuschagne to perform against England

Marnus Labuschagne was a late addition to the Australia squad for the ODI World Cup 2023, has been performing reasonably well in the tournament. He has contributed with some decent innings in the middle order and appears to be in good form.

The star Australia batter has joined the team as a replacement for Ashton Agar, and he is likely to feature in the match against England. While he has shown promise with starts in the tournament, he will be eager to convert one of those starts into a substantial century in the next game.
