Lionel Messi delivers again for the Herons
Lionel Messi once again showed his talents, guiding Miami to a dramatic League Cup victory against FC Dallas. After netting a left-footed opener from outside the box from a Jordi Alba pass. Despite being behind 2-1 at halftime and 3-1 at the start of the second half, Inter Miami staged an incredible comeback.
One of the best free-kick takers of all time, and he proved it on Monday with a spectacular goal from the set piece for Inter Miami. The 36-year-old has scored in all four matches he played for the Herons. Inter Miami’s own goal, by Robert Taylor in the 68th minute, seemed like a potential game-changer, especially after Benjamin Cremaschi’s goal just three minutes later, putting FC Dallas ahead 4-2. FC Dallas’ Paxton Pomykal’s miss on the second kick proved costly, sealing the home team’s fate despite their impressive performance.
FC Dallas coach Nico Estévez said, “I thought we had it.” “We put them in a really difficult position in this game.” “I think it’s not much to say. I think everyone can see it,” Estévez said. “It’s obvious for him a free kick around there is like a PK for another player.” Allan Velasco, the Argentine winger, playing for Dallas, scored a goal and set up an own goal with a mazy run despite his team losing on penalties.
Velasco spoke about playing against Messi in the Leagues Cup clash. He described the experience as ‘unforgettable’.
