India are in New Zealand to take on Kane Williamson’s men in a three-match T20I series and the first match of the same got washed out on November 18, Friday. While it was pouring outside, the players had a fun time indoors and went on to play footvolley.
While the likes of Sanju Samson, Ish Sodhi and Yuzvendra Chahal were spotted playing the same, Indian spinner Washington Sundar, attended an interview in the meantime and clarified on not participating in the fun activity.

I broke my ankle playing football: Washington Sundar
Saying that he injured his legs once when playing the sport, Sundar claimed that he had worked on his body and would rather prefer going for a jog than playing football, to avoid injuries. Further, the left-handed batter added that he loves coming to New Zealand and said that the people from the country always behave humanely.
“I broke my ankle playing football before a game once, so I told myself I’d never play football again. There are plenty of other things I can do instead for a warm-up, go for a jog, stretch etc. I have spent a lot of time at the NCA, my stint at Lancashire was amazing before I got injured, so I’ve worked a lot on my body, particularly my shoulder,” Sundar was quoted as saying.
“New Zealand is one of my favourite countries, the weather and the people are really pleasant. Since we got here, we spent a lot of time going to restaurants and walking to shops. We enjoy doing those things, enjoy our privacy out here,” he added.
As things stand, the Men in Blue would hope to take an early lead in the next clash to be played on Sunday and it remains to see if the Black Caps would come up with a fight in the battle. Post the conclusion of the series, team India under the leadership of Shikhar Dhawan will play as many ODIs and VVS Laxman, the former Indian cricketer, is the coach for both series respectively.
