WATCH : Harsha Bhogle makes ridiculous ‘Vadapav’ comment during Rohit Sharma’s batting in ODI World Cup 2023 semi-final
Harsha Bhogle has been in the commentary box for the longest time possible and this incident does not look good on him.
India took the lead against New Zealand shortly after the semi-final match thanks to an incredible opener from Rohit Sharma. The captain’s aggressive approach was evident as he scored an explosive 47 off only 29 balls. With his unrelenting attack, Sharma claimed every run, grabbing every opportunity to unleash powerful strokes.
When Rohit was batting, Harsha Bhogle brought a lighthearted touch to the commentary, which added a lovely twist to the intensity of the moment amongst the thrilling action. The comment made by Harsha Bhogle during the match, “Hold my vada pav, maybe,” went viral on social media and quickly gained popularity.
For India’s first wicket, Rohit alongside Shubman Gill quickly scored 71 runs in only 8.2 overs. Although Rohit’s exit at 47 was disappointing, he gave the large total a much-needed start. The middle-order took the load and turned a weak start into a respectable total. India reached a dominant 397 runs in an amazing showing.
In just 67 balls, Virat Kohli scored his 50th ODI century, while Shreyas Iyer quickly achieved his second straight century. India’s outstanding performance moved them one step closer to defeating New Zealand and into the ODI World Cup final. By building on Rohit’s explosive start and Gill’s steady effort up until the intense Mumbai heat interfered, Kohli and Iyer grabbed control and helped India to an enormous run total.

Sensational Shami shines in the ODI World Cup semi-final
During the ODI World Cup 2023 semi-final, India recorded a massive 397 run total. But the Kiwis kept the scoreboard moving. Mohammed Shami grabbed the stage at this point, taking four vital wickets versus the Black Caps. He took the first four crucial Kiwi wickets in his opening two spells.
As the Kiwi batters started to make an impression early during their innings, taking wickets of Rachin Ravindra and opener Devon Conway, he showed off his skills. Shami was unfazed by his dropped catch that briefly hushed the Wankhede crowd.
The speedster dismissed Kane Williamson, the captain of New Zealand, to pull off an incredible comeback. With 181 runs contributed, the team’s third-wicket partnership led by Daryl Mitchell came to an end with this breakthrough. He then returned at the end to remove the tailenders and finish with a record breaking seven-wicket haul.
