Recently, Turkish football club Besiktas fans showered thousands of toys onto the pitch during their match against Fraport TAV Antalyaspor in a gesture of support for children affected by the devastating earthquake on February 6.
The match between the two teams was paused after 4 minutes and 17 seconds on Sunday at Istanbul’s Vodafone Park in memory of an earthquake that hit Turkey’s southern region three weeks ago, Turkish news agency Anadolu reported. Fans threw thousands of plush toys and scarves. Players and staff rushed to the pitch to receive them. Talking about the match, it ended up in a draw.

The toys will be sent to children affected by the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that hit Turkey on February 6, located in Pazarsik district. At least 44,374 people were killed in two powerful earthquakes that shook southern Turkey on February 6, a report said.
Manchester United win Carabao Cup
Meanwhile, there was another match played on Sunday in which the legendary English football club Manchester United defeated Newcastle United by 2-0 to win the Carabao Cup on February 26 at Wembley Stadium. The Red Devils won their first trophy since 2017. The team’s midfielder Bruno Fernandes and the 2nd goal scorer of the match Marcus Rashford talked about the victory after the match.
“It’s an amazing feeling, we’ve been searching for this moment, us, the fans, the club, finally we get our trophy, we deserve it. It’s been an amazing period. The first trophy of the season but we want more. It’s not enough for this club, we want more and we need more because our standards deserve more.” Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes told Sky Sports just moments after the final whistle.
“It’s a mixture of all the emotions. It’s massive for us to be involved in these types of games. it’s something we’ve missed as a club. The fact we’ve come all this way and won it, it’s a massive feeling. Hopefully, it pushes us now to keep going. There’s a hunger to add more finals like this. I’ve been to finals where we’ve won and lost. It’s massive for us as a club and individuals and it’s part of our history. We want to keep adding to that.” Rashford told Sky Sports afterward.
