Any season of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is always a center whether be it a good or bad reason. Over the years, the league has been plagued by spot-fixing, cancellation for a few years, franchises getting replaced, and many more. Last year, the league was in center due to poor umpiring incidents and Shakib Al Hasan’s multiple meltdowns.
This year, the league seems to have been going in all regards. However, in the 26th game of the 2024 season between the defending champions Comilla Victorians and Duronto Dhaka, Dhaka’s opening batter Mohammad Naim got out a hit-wicket, trying to reverse scoop. The left-hander attempted the shot against a slow bouncer from Matthew Forde. Even though the Bangladesh international managed to hit the shot well enough, his bat hit the stumps.

Before this, Naim hit 64 off 45 balls including nine fours and one six. After his team lost the wicket of Chaturanga de Silva (14) early with 25 runs on the board, Naim and Saif Hassan (57) added 117 runs for the second wicket. Uncapped Australia player, Alex Ross (21) played a cameo too and the team reached 175/4 at the end of the innings. For the defending champions, Forde ended with three wickets.
In reply, the Red Army had a poor start as they lost their opening pair of Litton Das and Will Jacks early. Former Bangladesh international, Imrul Kayes (1) also went back early and the team was reduced to 23/3. At this point, Brooke Guest (34) and Towhid Hridoy (108*) put together 84 runs for the fourth wicket. The latter helped the team go over the line with one ball left and four wickets in hand.
