After some early hiccups, the Aussies made a brilliant comeback with the ball and restricted Sri Lanka to a below-par total of 209/10. After that, half-centuries from Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis helped the five-time champions win the game.

However, a video from the match is going viral on social media. In the video, an Australian fan could be seen chanting ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’ along with Indian fans while his team was striving for victory. Sri Lanka fail to hold nerves against Australian spinners

After winning the toss, Sri Lanka skipper Kusal Mendis opted to bat first. His decision went well with the team, as opener Kusal Perera and Pathum Nissanka added 125 runs for the first wicket. However, Australia skipper Pat Cummins clinched two back-to-back wickets and left the Sri Lankans in shock. After that, Sri Lankan batters failed to step up and secure their wickets, eventually getting bowled out for a mere 209/10.

In response, Australia didn’t have an ideal start. They lost openers David Warner and Steve Smith in the same over for just 24 runs. However, Mitchell Marsh (52), Marnus Labuschagne (40), Josh Inglis (58), Glenn Maxwell (31) and Marcus Stoinis (20) helped Australia propel to victory.
