Aiden Markram is one of the finest fielder of this generation. During the SA 20 Qualifier 1 match between Sunrisers Eastern Cape (SUNE) and Durban’s Super Giants (DSG), he displayed his athleticism on the field while making incredible flying catch during the game. He was at mid-on where he took the catch after the batter mistimed the pull shot. Markram was in the air for half a second when he took the catch. The video of his catch has been viral on social media.
Ottniel Baartman who was bowling dismissed JJ Smuts and the batter tried pulling a length ball which was mistimed and hit the toe end of the bat the ball travelled to mid-on the tournament has seen some mind-boggling catches being taken but possibly the 29-year-old’s catch will be the best catch of the tournament.
The Super Giants did not have the best start while chasing a target of 158 runs, as they lost the wickets of Tony de Zorzi and Mathew Breetzke making way to the pavilion early on in the innings. With Smuts also went back for a duck leaving them 13/3. They were bowled out on the score of 106 runs, with Wiaan Mulder being their highest scorer with 38 runs.

We thought we were a few runs short: Aiden Markram
After the game, Markram said, “We focus quite a lot on conditions, see what is our best chance to win and execute those plans. The wicket changed a lot before the rain and after rain. The ball was skidding on after the rain and we thought we were a few runs short at the halfway stage. It is huge, you want to be in finals, we have won it once and to do it again will be fantastic.”
The rain-affected match, but fortunately there was a full 20 overs game for the sides. The DSG who had a brilliant season so far do have another chance to qualify for the final as they will face the winner of the Eliminator game between the Paarl Royals (PR) and Joburg Super Kings (JSK).
