Punjab batting coach Wasim Jaffer has stepped down from his job, a day ahead of the mega auction in Bengaluru. Jaffer was appointed by the franchise in December 2019 as batting coach In these two years, he worked with the likes of Anil Kumble (head coach), Jonty Rhodes (fielding coach), and Damien Wright (bowling coach).
In July last year, the former India Test opening batter was signed by Odisha as the head coach of the team. He replaced Rashmi Parida, who was working with the team from November 2020. It is believed that Jaffer wants to fully focus on the Odisha team thus resigned from his post.
In his farewell post on Twitter, he thanked the franchise and wished Kumble the best for the upcoming season.
“Adios, and thank you @PunjabKingsIPL, it’s been a pleasure. Wishing @anilkumble1074 and the team very best for #IPL2022,″ the Mumbai-born player Tweeted.
