Vidhu Vinod Chopra credits Rajkumar Hirani for asking him to make 12th Fail with Vikrant Massey

Vidhu The director of ‘12th Fail’, Vinod Chopra, has disclosed that Rajkumar Hirani was the one who proposed adapting Manoj Sharma’s book ‘Twelfth Fail’ for the big screen. Vidhu stated that Vikrant Massey’s name was suggested by Rajkumar, according to the Times of India. Additionally, Vidhu disclosed how Vikrant gave him the idea “to direct this film.”

Recently, Vikrant celebrated the 100 days of the 12th Fail in films with Vidhu and co-actor Medha Shankar. Vidhu Vinod Chopra said at the event, “Manoj Sharma (the subject of the film) came to me with the book (Twelfth Fail) and requested me for a blurb in the book. I saw Sachin Tendulkar and Raju Hirani’s book ke peeche (backside) and they both praised it.”

The journey of 12th Fail:

He further added, “I called Raju (Rajkumar Hirani), and he said, ‘This book is a (can be made into) film!’ Will you be the one to direct it? But he had his hands full. After I started writing, I developed a deep love for screenplay. Vikrant’s name was suggested by Raju. After watching his film A Death in the Gunj, I developed a liking for him. I was inspired to direct this movie by Vikrant.”

12th Fail’, which is based on a book by Anurag Pathak, tells the story of Manoj Kumar Sharma, an IPS officer who overcame abject poverty. The movie highlights his career and the role his wife, IRS officer Shraddha Joshi, played in helping him advance. Manoj was portrayed by Vikrant Massey, and Shraddha was portrayed by Medha. October 27, of last year, saw the theatrical debut of ‘12th Fail’.

Kareena Kapoor, Kamal Haasan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Rishabh Shetty, Sanjay Dutt, Farhan Akhtar, and Anil Kapoor are just a few of the celebrities who have expressed their appreciation for the movie. At the 69th Filmfare Awards, 12th Fail won Best Film.

Regarding his work on the movie, Vikrant recently told ANI, “It’s a very hard-hitting, realistic Vidhu Vinod Chopra movie that’s very typical. It was an extremely difficult role. I had to lighten my skin tone and shed some pounds.”
