‘Unplayable Deepti’ – Fans react as Deepti Sharma demolishes England batting with fifer in One off Test match

The star India all-rounder, Deepti Sharma has yet again inked her name in history books.  In the ongoing one-off Test against England at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, Deepti Sharma achieved the feat of becoming the second Indian to score a fifty and pick five wickets in a Test match.

The England team were trailing by 428 runs which the Indian team set in the first innings. The England Women team never got going as they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. However, England faced a terrific collapse, being dismissed for a mere 136 as they lost their last six wickets for just 10 runs. The turning point occurred when Deepti Sharma was introduced into the attack, delivering an exceptional spell of 5/7 in 5.3 overs.

The veteran all-rounder bowling displayed more turn than any other spinner in the ongoing Test, unsettling the surface from outside off stump. With this performance, India gained a significant lead of 292. Notably, India Women opted not to enforce the follow-on and chose to bat, aiming to extend their lead even further. India scored 428 runs in their first innings

Earlier the skipper Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and elected to bat first on a flat pitch. On the second morning of the one-off Test against England Women, India Women added 18 runs to their overnight score reaching a total of 428 all out in 104.3 overs. This is also the second-highest score for Indian Women. The debutants Shubha Satheesh, Jemimah Rodrigues smashed well constructed half centuries. In addition to it, Yastika Bhatia and Deepti Sharma also contributed to India’s strong start with half centuries resulting in India posting 410/7 on Day 1.

Shubha and Jemimah’s partnership of 115 runs, along with Yastika and Harmanpreet’s 116-run stand rescued India from challenging situations. Deepti Sharma and Sneha Rana also added 92 runs for the seventh wicket helping India cross 400 runs for the third time against England.
