Kevin Pietersen, the former captain of the England Cricket Team, is visiting India and is making the most of his time by meeting prominent Indian politicians. Pietersen met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, March 3, and posted a touching caption. The cricketer wrote: “An honor to speak so passionately and warmly about the release of cheetahs on your birthday, Sir @narendramodi. Thank you for your infectious smile and firm handshake. I really look forward to seeing you again, Sir!”
On Thursday, March 2, KP—as he is known—met with Amit Shah, India’s home minister. Shah was referred to by Pietersen as “a lovely, compassionate, and encouraging man,” and the pictures quickly went viral.
Kevin Pietersen is a frequent visitor in India for his professional commitments
The Indian PM has long been a favourite of Pietersen. He has previously commended PM Modi for his exceptional governance during the trying years of COVID-19.
At the three-day Raisina Dialogue conference in India, Pietersen was invited to attend as a guest. A week after receiving the invitation, he tweeted: “So extremely excited to be going to India next week to share the stage at the below geo-political conference. An honor to be invited! Traveling to India is always something that excites me.”
The cricket star from England frequently travels to India. Apart from his travels to India to play ODI and Test matches as a member of the England team, he continues to come to India after his retirement to provide commentary for the Indian T20 League and other important cricket competitions.
In addition to his prowess as a cricketer, Pietersen actively participates in the preservation and protection of animals and is engaged in a project to conserve rhinos in Assam, India.
In his illustrious cricket career, Pietersen participated in 104 Test matches, 136 ODIs, and 37 T20 Internationals. He concluded his Test career with 8181 runs, scoring them at an average of 47.29. Pietersen finished the ODIs and T20Is with 4440 and 1176 runs, respectively. Not to mention, the powerful hitter competed in 36 Indian T20n League games and scored 1001 runs.
