There are far fewer things that are as chaotic as a transfer deadline day in football. As clubs scramble to get their last piece of the jigsaw puzzle it creates this mayhem that is very difficult to explain. This year’s transfer deadline day created even more frenzy as teams are already into their season and have already figured out problems that could be solved with certain players. The 2022 transfer window has broken multiple records owing to inflation. In this transfer window, the Premier League clubs have forked out more than £ 2 billion on players.
Chelsea who were in need of a striker swapped Pierre Emrick Aubameyang with Marcos Alonso from Barcelona. Chelsea also signed Denis Zakaria on loan from Juventus to take place of the injured Ngolo Kante. Liverpool who needed a midfielder, signed Arthur Melo from Juventus to help with an injured squad.
Manchester City, having already brought Erling Haaland, signed Manuel Akanji from Borussia Dortmund. Leicester City, who are struggling with the lack of signing this season, finally landed Wout Faes from Reims for £15m to take the place of Wesley Fofana, who has gone to Chelsea.
Julian Draxler, the PSG player, who remained in the shadow of others, has moved to Benfica. William, the former Chelsea player had moved to their arch-rivals Arsenal in 2020. After remaining a free agent for months, the Brazilian has signed for Fulham.
Nottingham Forest, the recently promoted club made a record-breaking signing of 21 players in this transfer window. They signed a couple of players on the transfer deadline day as well, taking the tally to 21.
