The 2011 World Cup winner Yuvraj Singh celebrates his 42nd birthday today. The way he performed for India during his exemplary career is a testament to most players representing their nation today. He always used to give it his all for the team whenever he stepped onto the field whether for his IPL franchise or for Team India.

The batting all-rounder was amongst the biggest names to have ever graced the Indian Premier League. He was signed as the costliest Indian player in the history of the league in 2014 by the Royal Challengers Bangalore. The southpaw has been part of many great wins and has scored some amazing knocks in the league as we dwell into the best ones.

Thanks to a brilliant innings by Yuvraj Singh, RCB amassed 186 for 4 in front of a packed crowd at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium. The all-rounder just used to love playing in that stadium as he smashed nine sixes on his way to a powerful 68 from 29 deliveries. It was his knock that enabled his side to be ahead in the game at the mid-innings break.

However, the last over, in which he hit Rahul Shukla, including four sixes, proved to be the game-changer. They were able to hit the spinner for a mammoth 27 runs which proved to be costly. That total proved to be a big one for the Delhi Daredevils as they lost the game to RCB.

After early difficulties against spin, the southpaw who dispatches bowling attacks effortlessly reappeared in the second half of his innings at the Feroz Shah Kotla. Sunrisers had slipped from 75 after eight overs to 106 for 3 after 14 overs. During this time, Yuvraj had driven and tugged for the opening 17 deliveries.

But a Yuvraj Singh special was long due and he made sure Sunrisers reached a good total. His ability to recover from the sluggish start, emphasized his significance as a middle order player. Yuvraj’s impressive display of striking in the last overs was anything from ordinary. He hammered 41 from 15 after getting dropped on 29.

After being down to 40-3 inside nine overs, Yuvraj Singh and AB de Villiers hammered Royal Challengers Bangalore away from danger to reach 190. Both players, but notably Yuvraj Singh, got going quickly and continued to play aggressively during their 132-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Yuvraj maintained his strong performance and mentioned his sixth IPL fifty. In the 19th over, Richardson gave Yuvraj a leg before wicket, resulting in his removal. He struck seven fours and an equal amount of sixes on his route to scoring 83 off 38 balls.
