Top 3 Cameron Green bowling spells in IPL history
The five-time champion Mumbai Indians traded Cameron Green out to Royal Challengers Bangalore in an all-cash deal for a whopping sum of INR 17.5 crore
Star Australia allrounder Cameron Green has been the biggest trade in Indian Premier League (IPL) history. The five-time champion Mumbai Indians traded him out to Royal Challengers Bangalore in an all-cash deal for a whopping sum of INR 17.5 crore. The deal was finalised a day after the announcement of retention.
However, some fans are excited to see Green in M Chinnaswamy Stadium, while others find it an unwanted investment from RCB. Despite that, Green possesses a match-winning quality because of his fiery abilities. In his debut season with MI, he scored 452 runs at an average of 50.22 in 16 matches. With the ball, he was handy too, as he took six wickets in 16 innings and gave glimpses of his abilities. So, here are his top 3 bowling spells in IPL 2023.
#3. 1/20 vs Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), 2023
In the 22nd match of the tournament, the Kolkata Knight Riders were batting first against the Mumbai Indians. With a steady batting line-up, KKR were looking to post a massive total for the Rohit Sharma-led team. However, Cameron Green had some other plans as he dismissed opener N Jagdeeshan for a five-ball duck.
His amazing bowling performance helped MI control the flow of runs in powerplay. In the high-scoring game, Green gave up just twenty runs in two overs while taking a crucial wicket. Despite Venkatesh Iyer‘s century, Mumbai comfortably chased the target and won the game by five wickets.
#2. 1/15 vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), 2023
In the 54th match of the tournament, Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and opted to bat first. In the high-scoring game, RCB was looking for 200+ with six wickets in hand and skipper Faf set in the middle. However, Green had some other plans, as he dismissed Faf for a 41-ball, 65-run knock and gave MI a ray of hope.
In the end, with a high-voltage batting performance from Ishan Kishan, Nehal Wadhera, and Suryakumar Yadav, the Mumbai Indians chased the target within 16.3 overs and won the game by six wickets.
#1. 2/41 vs Punjab Kings (PBKS), 2023
Once again, in a high-scoring game, Cameron Green had an opportunity to outshine all the bowlers in the game. While batting first, the Punjab Kings were looking for a huge total when Green came and applied the breaks. He dismissed dangerous Harpreet Singh Bhatia and Matthew Short to stop PBKS from posting a huge total.
However, his performance didn’t help the Mumbai Indians, as PBKS posted 214/8 in 20 overs. In response to losing the top batters, Green once again had the opportunity, scoring 67 runs off 43 balls with the help of six fours and three sixes. Despite his heroics, MI fell 13 runs short of the target and lost the game.
