When Messi moved to PSG, many thought it to be a retirement home for the former Barcelona player. His performance in the French League 1 in the first season more than proved the doubters right as well. In 26 matches, the Argentinian scored just six goals in Ligue 1 and none in the Champions League.
This season, however, fans are treated to a Messi from Barcelona days. So far Messi has scored 6 goals and 9 assists in just 11 League 1 matches. Additionally, Messi has scored 4 goals and assisted 3 in the Champions League this season. So far the diminutive Argentinian has scored a total of 23 goals and 12 assists in 26 games in 2022. This level of performance is worthy of winning any tournament, even the world cup.

The current Argentina national team has been molded in such a way that it fits Messi perfectly. From tactics to individual players, Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni has constructed such a team that is unbeaten in 35 games running.
Placed in Group C with Saudi Arabia, Mexico, and Poland, the Messi-led side is motivated more than ever given this would be Messi’s last World Cup. The camaraderie between the Argentina players looks among the very best when it comes to the national side and that would be a huge factor in Messi going all the way to the FIFA World Cup title in 2022.

Football is often a cruel game. It is a sport that you choose as a kid and let it upset you for the entirety of your life. Millions of fans in the world would be hoping for the legendary player to win the world cup and put his hands on the cup that has eluded him for decades.
