‘This game is really cruel’- Twitter left heartbroken after David Wiese’s heroics fail to take Namibia through to Super 12 in 20-20 World Cup

Fans have hailed David Wiese as a victor despite heartbreaking loss.

Namibia, the team that shocked all in the first match of the 20-20 World Cup after defeating Sri Lanka as been knocked out of the tournament. The African nation team lost the do-or-die match against UAE by just seven runs and crashed out of the tournament.

Although the man slipped away from Namibia’s hands in the first 12 overs itself when they had lost 7 wickets at just 67 runs, however, a brave David Wiese walked in at that moment and changed the whole complexion of the game.

The right-hand batter played a sensational knock of 55 runs off of 36 deliveries to take his team on the verge of a historic win. The batter however was dismissed on the third ball of the last over after playing his heart out. What followed was a scene that broke the hearts of all cricket fans around the globe.

After getting dismissed and missing the win by a fine margin, Wiese was seen sitting in the dugout with his head in his hands and wiping the tears that rolled down his cheeks. Social media was buzzing after Wiese’s fighting knock and many hailed him as a hero.

Earlier, UAE made 148 runs after coming onto bat first. A solid half-century from opener Muhammad Waseem (50) and an unbeaten knock of 43 from Chundangapoyil Rizwan helped the Asian country to a defendable total.

In reply, Namibia got off to a poor start and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. They found themselves struggling at 69/7 in 12.4 overs when David Wiese walked in and took the game by the scruff of the neck. The 37-year-old batter however could not take his team across the finishing line in what has been one of the saddest moments of this 20-20 World Cup in Australia.
