The ‘Men-in-Blue’ are desperate for a win in the third ODI against Bangladesh being played at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram. Bangladesh captain Litton Das won the toss and elected to bowl first as Indian openers Ishan Kishan and Shikhar Dhawan walked out to the middle to give a solid start to their team.
India have been under fire for a long time for their conservative approach in limited-overs cricket. However, opener Ishan Kishan put that criticism to rest with his scintillating innings of 210 off 131 balls which saw India scoring at over 8 runs per over throughout their innings. Impressed by Kishan’s innings, former England captain Michael Vaughan took to Twitter to appreciate his marvellous innings.

After India’s exit from the 20-20 World Cup 2022 in the semi-final, Vaughan had criticized India’s batting approach in the white-ball formats saying that the team needs to show intent right from the word go. And Ishan Kishan followed that method today and ripped apart the Bangladesh bowling which troubled India in the first two ODIs.
Ishan Kishan scored a brilliant double-hundred
The southpaw unleashed his beast mode on Bangladesh and began smashing boundaries after taking some time early on. Kishan finally reached his maiden ODI hundred off just 85 balls as he swept Afif Hossain for a four over deep backward square leg.
The Bihar-born batter quickly shifted gears upon reaching his hundred and launched an all-out attack on Bangladesh. Virat Kohli at the other end also brought up his fifty as the duo put on a 200-run stand for the second wicket.
Kishan further ripped apart the leading wicket-taker of the series, Shakib-al-Hasan and clobbered 20 runs in the 27th over by smashing two fours and a six. The swashbuckling batter brought up his 150 off just 103 balls and had his eyes set on a double hundred.
The young sensation reached the coveted landmark in the 35th over of the innings off just 126 balls and became the fourth Indian and 7th overall player to record an ODI double hundred. He also broke the record for the fastest double hundred in ODIs previously held by Chris Gayle. After Kishan got dismissed, Kohli also joined the party and brought up his 44th ODI hundred which was also his first in the format since August 2019.
After losing the first two matches, India are desperate for a win to avoid a whitewash in the series.
