India came victorious in the thrilling encounter against Pakistan on Sunday. The game threatened to go in Pakistan’s favour for the majority of the time, but it was brought into India’s bag by a sensational Virat Kohli who defied all logic to smash 48 in the last 18 balls and brought upon an early Diwali on billions of people.

The game tiptoed in the last over with something or the other happening on every ball. After the fourth ball was called a no and hit for a six, the game swiftly moved into India’s favour. 3 byes on the next, all but confirmed India’s win. It was then that Dinesh Karthik had a chance to win the match for the country but a brain fade from the wicket-keeper batter got him run out.

Bowling all-rounder Ravi Ashwin then came in and saved the Men in Blue and got the team over the line. The whole country was jubilant after the win, but Karthik must be having a sigh of relief after he left the team in limbo.

Here’s the video:

In a recent video posted by the Indian Cricket Board, Karthik was seen thanking Ashwin for saving the team and Karthik himself from backlash. The video posted on Twitter and other social media platforms show the team travelling to Sydney for the next 20-20 World Cup match against the Netherlands.

In the video, the team could be seen coming into the airport on the team bus and boarding the flight. In the middle of the video, Dinesh Karthik could be seen saying, “Thank you for saving me yesterday, thank you for saving me.”

Towards the end of the video, the team is seen deboarding and going to their hotel in Sydney. India is currently second in Group 2 with two points in one match. Bangladesh sits first with a better net run rate. Pakistan meanwhile is fifth with a net run rate of -0.050 and 0 points.
