Tamil Nadu Premier League 2022: Match 22- Chepauk Super Gillies vs Salem Spartans- Match Report

Salem Spartans and Chapauk Super Gillies clashed in the 22nd match of the Tamil Nadu Premier League 2022 with the SS team having another opportunity to get their first win. The CSG team had the chance to move to the second position on the league table.

Let’s look at the match report for the recently concluded game.

TNPL Match 22: Chepauk Super Gillies vs Salem Spartans

After winning the toss, the CSG team decided to bowl first. Coming on to bat first, the SS team got off to a poor start as their opener Jafar Jamal (6) departed when the team’s score was just 26. This was not all for the bottom languishing SS team as they lost two more wickets on 26. Akshay Srinivasan (0) and Daryl Ferrario (0) were removed for a duck by Manimaran Sidharth in the same over.

From 26-3, the SS team could not recover despite handy knocks of 23* from A Abishiek and Murugan Ashwin (14*).
M Siddharth, with a bowling figure of 4-13-3, was CSG’s best bowler.

Coming on to chase this small target, the CSG began in a confident fashion. Both openers Kaushik Gandhi (46) and Narayan Jagadeesan (39) took charge of the chase and got CSG in a very comfortable situation. Although, there was a little scare of collapse when three quick wickets fell at 89, 97 and 98 respectively. The next two batters were able to steady the innings and win them the match. Sonu Yadav (26*) and Rajagopal Sathish (1*) were able to bring the CSG team home with an easy win over the SS at the end.

SS’ bowling was of as poor as their batting and could not defend their target, losing the game in just 14.5 overs. After this win, the CSG team now moves to second in the Tamil Nadu Premier League table with eight points in six matches. SS, meanwhile, remains at the bottom having won none of their five matches so far.
