Shubman Gill retires hurt during ODI World Cup 2023 semi-final
Injury forced Shubman Gill to retire from the World Cup semi-final between India and New Zealand. Leg cramping forced Gill to quit, and Shreyas Iyer took his place. The opener looked good right from the start of the innings.
Even though it took him some time to become comfortable, after Rohit Sharma left, he turned up the heat. Gill, who is well-known for his quick hands and easy gap-closing skills, wowed with eight boundaries as well as three maximums in an impressive 79 off 65 balls. For Indian team supporters, Gill can come back to the crease if the team management decide to take that call.
