The Ranji Trophy has been the prime domestic tournament of India. Just like the county matches in England, Ranji holds a lot of weightage regarding records and selection for the National team. However, former India player, Manoj Tiwary has shown frustration toward the tournament and wants it to be scrapped. Tiwary took to Twitter to rant out against the Ranji Trophy and feels a lot of things have gone wrong in the tournament since its start.
Tiwary tweeted, “Ranji trophy should be scrapped off from the calendar from the next season onwards. So many things going wrong in the tournament. So many things need to looked into to save this prestigious tournament which has a rich history. It’s losing its charm and importance. Absolutely frustrated.”
Talking about his Ranji career, Tiwary also came live on Facebook and highlighted a few of the issues that are taking place in the tournament. He made it clear that he will announce his retirement from Ranji matches after the season ends. However, the real reason behind the tweet hasn’t been disclosed yet.
