India coach Rahul Dravid addresses the Shivam Dube vs Hardik Pandya debate

Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube are set to hog headlines for the next few months. The two players will be in contention for the coveted all-rounder spot for the 2024 T20I World Cup. Indian Coach Rahul Dravid seemed pleased with the way Shivam Dube performed during the recent Afghanistan series.

Speaking to the media after the win in Bengaluru, Rahul Dravid had nothing but praise for the Mumbai player. The 30-year-old played a key role in India’s 3-0 win over Afghanistan both with the bat and ball.

Chennai Super Kings will welcome back Shivam Dube during the IPL 2024 season. MS Dhoni and his side are the defending champions and are looking to win their 6th title. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya is set to skipper Mumbai Indians for the 1st time in the upcoming season.

Rahul Dravid praises Shivam Dube –

After the comprehensive 3-0 win over Afghanistan, Rahul Dravid is a happy camper. The 51-year-old was singing the praising of Shivam Dube after the 30-year-old took his chances with both hands.

Rahul Dravid addressed the press and said “He has certainly put his hand up and said, ‘Look, here I am and these are the skills I possess, and if you are looking for something like that, I have got this ability”

India missed the services of Hardik Pandya after his injury during the 2023 ODI World Cup. The 30-year-old is yet to make his return to the field and is set to do so during the IPL 2024 season.

“He really showed us that he has got some really good ability through those middle overs against spin. Also with the ball. He bowled some good overs and he has learned some lessons as well that it can be a very unforgiving bowling in a place like Bangalore” remarked Rahul Dravid.

India’s veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin meanwhile also praised Shivam Dube. The 37-year-old while speaking on his YouTube channel spoke about the difference in Dube’s game. According to Ashwin, the move to Chennai Super Kings seems to have helped the left-handed batter.

Shivam Dube was part of the team that beat Gujarat Titans in the final last year. MS Dhoni won the title thanks to Ravindra Jadeja who hit Mohit Sharma for a last-ball four. With this being MSD’s last year many CSK fans will hope Shivam Dube can come good in the IPL also.
