One Day World Cup qualifier 2023 hosts, Zimbabwe have recorded their highest team in their ODI cricket history. In the ongoing game against the USA, the Chevrons lost the toss and were asked to bat first on a cold morning in Harare. As it is winter in the Southern African part of the World, the pitches aid swing bowlers upfront. Meanwhile, after having a slow and steady start, the Red Army made up for it.

At one stage, the home side amassed 102/1 in 20 overs. However, in the last 30 overs, the team scored 308 runs for the loss of five wickets. This meant that the team reached 408/6, their highest team total. With this, they became the seventh team to reach more than 400 runs. Former World Champions such as India, Sri Lanka, and Australia did so years back. On the other hand, current World Cup holders, England did so a few times.

This is how Twitter reacted

Talking about the game, Zim skipper Sean Williams scored 174 runs off 101 balls including 21 fours and five sixes. The likes of Joylord Gumbie (78) and Innocent Kaia (32) provided a solid foundation for the side. The likes of Sikandar Raza (48), Ryan Burl (47), and Tadiwanashe Marumani (18*) helped the team as well to reach their highest total. In reply, the loss in inevitable for the United States as they have lost eight wickets for 92 runs at the time of writing.
