In the 25th game of the Indian Premier League 2023, Mumbai Indians beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 14 runs to register their third consecutive victory. MI, riding on Camron Green‘s amazing performance, pulled off an excellent victory and climbed up in the points table. However, all eyes were on Arjun Tendulkar when he bowled the last over to successfully defend 20 runs.
He brilliantly bowled some yorkers and clinched a wicket too. He dismissed Bhuvneshwar Kumar to name his maiden IPL wicket. Appreciating his amazing performance he was awarded the MI dressing room Player of the Match award. Notably, he made his IPL debut against Kolkata Knight Riders after spending three years with Mumbai Indians.
Arjun received his award from none other than his father Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin represented MI during the initial seasons of the prestigious league. Sachin and Arjun are the only father-son duo to play for any franchise in the Indian Premier League.

After the game, former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar praised Arjun Tendulkar for his amazing performance. He praised the youngster and draw a parallel with Sachin Tendulkar. He said, “Everybody talks about the amazing talent Sachin Tendulkar had at the start of his career. But it was his temperament that was amazing, and Arjun seems to have inherited that.
“He seems to be a shrewd thinker as well. It’s always a good sign when a youngster is bowling the final over for the team and delivering”, he further added. Meanwhile, Aaron Finch also praised the young guns of Mumbai Indians as they are performing in absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer.
While speaking with Star Sports Finch says, “The youth are standing up for the Mumbai Indians in the absence of superstars like Jasprit Bumrah and Jofar Archer. The team was missing the big guns badly in the first couple of games but these young kids have taken it upon themselves to deliver now.”
