The Indian team finished the group stage of the ODI World Cup 2023 with 9 wins. India are yet to lose a match in the ongoing tournament. As a team, India have been performing well with not many mistakes in their process. But the major driving factor in the Indian team have been Jasprit Bumrah and the captain, Rohit Sharma, who have given good starts.

With the ball, Jasprit Bumrah bowls so well that it allows other bowlers to give their best. With the bat, Rohit bats so effortlessly and with a clear intent of taking on the bowlers that it eases the pressure on other batters. The responsibility Rohit has taken as a batter and to execute it with perfection, has made him arguably the best batter of the tournament so far.

In 9 innings, Rohit has 503 runs at a batting average of 55.88, at a batting strike rate of 121.49, including a hundred and 3 fifty-plus scores. Rohit has surpassed the 500-run mark in a single edition of the tournament for the second time in a row. But is the way Rohit has gone about his batting that has impressed everyone. The Indian captain has been taking risks and being selfless in his approach.

‘Bowlers and oppositions are on the back foot from ball one against Rohit’ – Wasim Akram

Rohit has impressed many with his batting in the tournament. One of them is Wasim Akram himself. The former Pakistan cricketer said that Rohit is different from others and makes batting look easy. “There’s no one like Rohit Sharma. We keep talking about Kohli, Kane, Root, Babar, but this guy is different. He makes batting look so easy,” said Akram.

The 1992 World Cup winner said that Rohit plays his shots with ease irrespective of the situation, which has the bowlers in the back right at the start. “No matter what the situation is, the bowling attack is, he plays his shots with ease. Bowlers and oppositions are on the back foot from ball one against Rohit,” added Akram. India is set to face New Zealand in the semifinal of the tournament in Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium.
