With only one day until the release of the highly anticipated film Animal, its cast, including director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, is on a promotional tour across India, meeting and greeting their adoring fans. Despite his busy schedule, the director took some time out to speak with iDream Media, where he revealed that actor Ranveer Singh, not Shahid Kapoor, was his first choice to play the titular role in Kabir Singh. He also discussed why Ranveer Singh turned down the offer before Shahid Kapoor joined the cast.
The Kabir Singh director told iDream Media, “I was constantly getting calls from Mumbai to do the remake. It was first pitched to Ranveer Singh. I really wanted to do it with him. But, in the end, he decided not to do it because it was too dark for him at the time.”
Ranveer Singh rejected Kabir Singh:
Sandeep Reddy Vanga explained how Shahid Kapoor became involved in the project, saying, “Shahid’s track record was a concern; none of his solo films had done 100 crore at the time, his highest was 65 crore. They used to say that Telugu movies make between 55 and 65 crores. ‘How come you’re doing it with this guy? The box office would be higher if it was Ranveer’. But I’ve always been confident in Shahid; he’s a fantastic actor.”
Kabir Singh, like its Telugu counterpart Arjun Reddy, performed well at the box office for the uninitiated. According to the director, the film, starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani, grossed around 380 crore globally. Meanwhile, the Censor Board of Film Certification report for Animal has been released. According to a report image widely shared on social media, the film lasts 203 minutes, or 3 hours and 23 minutes. The CBFC asked director Sandeep Reddy Vanga to make five changes to the film in addition to awarding it an Adults Only (A) certificate.

Animal is all set to release on 1st December 2023. The film features Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, and Tripti Dimitri in pivotal roles.
