Despite making several playoff appearances, the team has yet to secure another championship. As the anticipation grows for the upcoming IPL 2024 mini-auction, Rajasthan Royals are keen to address their 16-year-long quest for the title spanning 15 seasons of the tournament. There have been majority of the core players, who have been retained by the franchise but there are also some promising talents released by the franchise. Let’s have a look at them;

Kuldip Yadav became part of the Royals after his acquisition in the 2021 IPL auction. The 27-year-old left-arm pacer made his debut at Delhi during the 2019 domestic season and was the last pick for the franchise in that season’s auction. An India team left arm bowler could have been a good retention for the Rajasthan Royals.

Until now, Yadav had played in three matches where he accounted for two wickets at a strike rate of 27 runs.

2. Obed McCoy

Obed McCoy is a young left-arm pacer from the West Indies. McCoy showcased his array of variations in his onset in IPL 2022. It feels like his bowling his tailored for T20 cricket as his ability to use of slower deliveries poses challenges for batters all around the globe. Making his debut with the Royals, McCoy demonstrated rapid improvement and even earned the confidence of his captain, delivering in critical situations.

Recently, when India toured West Indies, McCoy had impressed one and all with his shuttle variations. In the eight games that he played so far in the competition he has managed to pick up 11 wickets but at a strike of 14.64, which is very impressive.

In the year 2023, Jason Holder made a comeback to the Rajasthan Royals after previously representing and captaining Barbados Royals in the CPL. In the previous year, Holder played for Lucknow Super Giants, securing 14 wickets. Known for his ability to hit the powerful shots with his long levers, Holder can be a valuable batting option especially to stabilize an early batting collapse. Royals deciding to leave him out can turn out to be a costly affair for the team. His ability as one of the premier fast-bowling all-rounders has been evident in both international and franchise cricket over the past few years.
