One of the cricketing moves that has managed to maintain its originality in the current era of the game is the cover drive. Few modern players, including as Virat Kohli and Babar Azam, are known for this particular stroke, and there has frequently been discussion regarding which of the two plays it better.
When asked who he thought performed the cover drive the best in the world, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma offered his opinion on the subject. Sharma responded by naming three individuals, Joe Root of England, Babar Azam of Pakistan, and Virat Kohli of India.
Rohit said during a discussion on Vimal Kumar’s channel on YouTube that, “Kohli, Babar, Joe Root. But I think Kohli has the best technique when it comes to the cover drive.”
Former England cricketer turned broadcaster Nasser Hussain, meanwhile, offered his own viewpoint on this subject last year. He suggested that ambitious young cricketers attentively watch Babar Azam if they want to learn the cover drive.
He said, “Sorry Indian fans, I’m gonna be biased and go with Babar Azam. I nearly went with Kohli but he is slightly different. He has the fast flick of the wrist but Babar has the conventional way of playing it. If any young boy wants to learn cover drive, I would say watch Babar Azam.”
