Riyan Parag writes history as he scores yet another fifty in SMAT 2023
Riyan Parag has now scored 50 or more runs in his last six innings in SMAT 2023.
During the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023 encounter against Kerala, Riyan Parag made history. Riyan being the first player in T20 cricket history to hit six consecutive fifties with a total of 33-ball-57 not out for Assam.
He has scored 440 runs at an average of about 62.86 in seven SMAT 2023 matches thus far. He also guided his team to a valiant two-wicket victory over Kerala. Kerala being a team that had not yet lost an encounter in the competition.
At the Sharad Pawar Indoor Cricket Academy in Mumbai on Friday, Parag, who came into bat at 48/3. He steadied the chase and changed gears towards the end. By hitting four sixes for Assam, his side easily won with three balls remaining.
Prior to this, he had tied the record for most half-centuries in an innings alongside Virendra Sehwag, Devon Conway, Jos Buttler, David Warner, Hamilton Masakadza, Kamran Akmal, and Wayne Madsen with his 37-ball-72.
Additionally, his game-winning inning against Kerala cemented his place in history.Prior to the SMAT 2023, Parag was the target of a lot of trolling because of his lacklustre IPL 2023 batting performance for the Rajasthan Royals.
With this achievement for Assam, Parag has succeeded in leaving a strong impression on the national team’s selectors, as the T20 World Cup, which is set for June 2024, will take precedence over the fifty-over World Cup.
